THE EXTRAORDINARY FREEDOM EXPERIMENT

We are privileged to be living in a defining moment for America when the future hinges on our collective ability to practice freedom.

The Extraordinary Freedom Experiment contains practices to cultivate your ability to make choices—especially when you pursue heartfelt goals and leadership responsibilities that seem borderline impossible.

Welcome to The Extraordinary Freedom Experiment from Founder, Art Turock

One incident turned my lifelong fascination with freedom into a full time experiment to launch a wakeup call for America. When I grasped the full implications of this distinction between liberty and freedom offered by Dr. Mort Fertel (author, Marriage Fitness)

WHAT CAPABILITES CONSTITUTE “EXTRAORDINARY FREEDOM?

“Liberty is the right to choose. Freedom is the ability to make a choice. A country can provide you liberty. Freedom comes from within. A country can offer you choices. But if you’re not in control of what you decide, then you are not free. To be truly free, you must cultivate the ability to choose. Most people in America have liberty but not freedom.”  — Dr. Mort Fertel

After 4 years of deliberately practicing freedom and realizing these enormous benefits, I reached this conclusion:

“I prefer to push the envelope of freedom over comfortable self-imprisonment.”

How about you? Where do you draw your line in the sand?
comfort-vs-extraordinary

YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EXTRAORDINARY FREEDOM EXPERIMENT

A heroic experiment gives you permission to test your self-imposed limits with
100% guarantee of powerful learning, with 0% chance to fail.

IN THIS EXPERIMENT, WE TEST THIS HYPOTHESIS:

The conventional methods for goal setting, goal execution, and accountability are insufficient for achieving heartfelt goals that demand significant comfort zone demolition. Accordingly, we will test a set of freedom optimization practices designed to discard comfort zones and gain access to full performance capacity.

In 2018 and 2020, 25 highly accomplished entrepreneurs, business leaders, military officers, business consultants, and masters track athletes participated in 90-day field tests of Art Turock’s freedom mastery practices. They took on the role of Intrepid Freedom Crusaders.

SAMPLE OF INTREPID FREEDOM CRUSADERS RESULTS FOR 90-DAY EXPERIMENTS

Individual Results

The undervalued part in every achievement is the seemingly impossible conditions (i.e., unreasonable effort + risks) that must be discarded. Therefore, this report gives equal billing to tangible results and seemingly impossible conditions overcome.

Russell LaMar Jacquet-Acea achieved All American Standard in 19 events in masters track and field in 2019

Seemingly impossible conditions to overcome: “It’s too much work to fulfill that dream. I could achieve this if I only concentrated on sprinting events and stopped doing the multi-events. I haven’t run a mile since high school.”

Andrea Fletcher (center with bags and boots) achieved her goal of feeling competent to speak German with Germans.

Seemingly impossible condition overcome: “I don’t want to make a mistake and sound stupid. It would be so embarrassing to mispronounce a word and butcher their language.

Derrick Smith

CEO Derrick Smith deadlifting toward his challenging goal of 2x’s his body weight.

Seemingly impossible condition overcome: With all the changes going on with my leadership responsibilities at work, I shouldn’t take on challenging fitness goals. Showing up at the gym three times a week is good enough.”

Madeleine Blanchard began her practice as a Shaman (here she receives a healing from Aama Bombo)

Seemingly impossible conditions overcome: “I’m fearful my colleagues will think I’m weird.” and “I might suck at being a shaman.”

ACCOUNTABILITY CONTAGION PROJECTS

Accountability is so rare, it is not readily copiable. The words for taking accountability don’t roll off the tongue. How would you react if a tardy individual remarked, “I’m accountable for not checking MapQuest for traffic delays and not choosing to leave in time to arrive 5-10 minutes early.” You would never expect such a blatant display of taking accountability.

What if an instant rush to take accountability become a group norm? Here are examples of how Intrepid Freedom Crusaders orchestrated accountability contagion in their spheres of influence—in a college class, parenting, and sales management:

Accountability
Daphne Scott

Daphne Scott is a rare college instructor to teach mindset master as part of her freshman math classes. Her goal is to help students disrupt their comfort zones so both their class participation and homework improve from competent to elite standards.

Terry Heys orchestrated the practice of accountability with his two high school daughters ages 16 and 18. The girls set one goal each month that requires performing an uncomfortable task each week.

Andy Tysler

Andy Tysler developed his Deschutes Brewery sales managers to stop trying to hold people accountable. Instead, they engaged in daily practice in taking accountability and inviting accountability in managing performance of sales reps

WHAT IF key people in your life, followed your lead and refused to accept rationalizations for unwanted outcomes and their courageous desire to demolish comfort zones became contagious?
WHAT IF self-appointed leaders sprung up in America and created accountability contagion from sea to shining sea?

Three Phases of THE EXTRAORDINARY FREEDOM EXPERIMENT

The Extraordinary Freedom Experiment involves several phases of experiments.

Phase 1: Start Discarding Your Excuses + Blames

Awareness is the first step to a cure. Let’s start out with a powerful one minute practice drill to increase awareness of your self-limiting beliefs, justifications, and blames that dictate the confines of your comfort zones.
Here’s the drill Every time you hear yourself contemplate or verbalize this type of victim language, take out a red flag just like a National Football League coach requests review of a referee’s call.

You can even notice victim language in emails:

Red Flag Email

Phase 1:
Start Discarding Your Excuses + Blames

Before executing steps 1-2-3, read the Self-Coaching Guide, “How to Discard Every Excuse You Ever Imagine.”

Red Flag
1. Carry a Red Challenge Flag

Carry a red challenge flag used by National Football League head coaches and put the flag in your shirt or pants’ pocket.

Red Flag
2. Hold the Red Flag

When you offer an excuse, blame, or justify, either in your spoken words or your inner thoughts, place the red flag in your hand and notice what category fits:

• Uncomfortable feelings stop you from taking effective action.
• Unfavorable circumstances seem to be stacked against you.
• Past history suggests your lack of ability to achieve your goal.

Red Flag
3. Put the Red Flag Back in pocket.

Notice if you are now ready to dismiss your excuse and do the uncomfortable task you were going to postpone or substitute a more comfortable activity.

If you don’t take this uncomfortable action, do the practice drills in the Self-Coaching Guide, “How to Discard Every Excuse You Can Ever Imagine.” Download available in Practices.

Take this opportunity to deliberately practice discarding excuses.
